A day that celebrated partnership as much as placings

The Indoor Arena TREC competition at Pibwrlwyd, Carmarthen showed the sport at its most encouraging. We had several complete newcomers, 3 new juniors riding, Laura Evans back after having a baby and Wendy Evans having a go with her young horse.

There were at least 4 baby horses and Janette Jones riding Paloma for the first time, having brought her in hand for the past two years. Gaynor Rooke won her class in her (and Charlie's) first ever try at TREC - Charlie her horse is 30 years old! All great stories!

Yes, there were competitive moments with riders wanting to do well and supporters watching each round with interest. But the lasting impression was bigger than scores. The horse that tried something new. The pony that grew in confidence. The rider who left with homework and a plan. That is why TREC deserves more attention.

TREC brings together practical riding skills and genuine fun. It gives horses useful education. It helps riders become clearer, calmer and more aware. It welcomes different ages, breeds, abilities and ambitions. Most of all, it reminds us that riding is a partnership, and every partnership has room to grow.

Indoor Arena TREC offers a friendly way to keep horses thinking during the year. It can add variety to schooling, encourage careful flat work and give riders a goal that feels positive rather than pressured.

For newcomers, it is one of the most inviting doors into equestrian competition. You can start small, learn as you go and enjoy the support of people who understand that every horse and rider combination is on its own journey.

The best result is a horse and rider leaving the arena with confidence!
